Tennis school and competitive teams from the perspective of team captain Přemysl Houda.

The season is over – and how did we fare in it? How when and how where. But most of all, we gained experience. And, it must be added, I gained experience as a captain, who did not always get the players on the roster right, so Ráchel in particular sometimes officially lost a match that she actually won, because she should have been placed – on the center court – as second in the order, and not third, where I had mistakenly placed her several times, for which I heard a few truthful words from her about her organizational skills when she found out. But whatever…

Lukáš and Ráchel? Sometimes clear (they won and played quite well), sometimes partly cloudy to cloudy (they lost after a fight, but played well), it was rarely cloudy (a clear defeat after a bad performance was an exception). Lukáš will probably regret the lost third sets in several matches in which he was no worse, Ráchel will probably regret the match with Hloubětín the most, in which she measured her strength with an opponent she did not give a chance to in the first set, won it without losing a game and almost without losing a ball, only to then stop playing what she came to the court with and let her opponent turn the match around.

Max was gathering his first experiences. At first, he was also collecting his first games and at the end of the matches he sometimes counted more herons in the sky than balls in the game, but he was improving quickly and eventually he managed to win one match, even at Sparta, so his progress was visible and he holds promise for the future.

Honzík also came to our aid sometimes, but he was quite unlucky with the opponents he faced. They were really good. He had a particularly difficult task at Konstruktiva, where he was playing against a guy who was simply great at hitting.

In terms of numbers – or results – we have played our first season and we are closing the table on both the medium and large courts (after all, someone always has to close it). Congratulations to our opponents. How many of them will congratulate us on our victory next season? I think quite a few. The chance is really there.
